I am still using the last released version of Netscape, but want to move all of my bookmarks over to FireFox. Apparently it is not as easy as it used to be in 9 where you simply moved the bookmark.html file over to the new folder.
I have tried the import option in FF, but it does not bring anything over except an empty folder.

Any idea how I can do this?

B. ResEx Team – Wow, does that mean more than one person is not doing anything with the site? Now there’s a concept – not just one person ignoring the site, but a whole team of people ignoring the site. Does a team do nothing better than an individual? Does the quality or quantity of the nothing improve/
C. Is there hope for ResExcellence to emulate the Phoenix and emerge from the virtual ashes?
D. Does anyone at Insanity really, honestly care about restoring the archives or getting the site back online?
E. What happened to Michael Coyle’s web site? Now that too is a non-updated site – sad too, he had the spirit and drive and personality that made ResExcellence excellent for so long.

It’s sad that this site has been down for so long. You could have at least given us partial functionality and just done gradual updates.

A twitch? Geez, even I, who nothing at all about building a web site, could have completely re-done this one by now. A few times over.

yep, noticed. seriously, i visited resexcellence since its inception. i just occasionally type int he url, but haven’t expected anything but stagnation for the past year. does this mean something will actually, you know, happen here? you delicious generation guys are beginning to make good on the “all sizzle, no steak” criticisms laid at your doorstep. but completing a high-profile resurrection of a site with history like resexcellence would help. either that or just kill it once and for all, out of mercy.

The smiley or emoticon image graphics are found in the /wp-includes/images/smilies directory.

Note that smileys is spelled ‘eys’ in this documentation and the directory name for the smiley images is ’smilies, spelled ‘ies’. eek emoticon
How Can I Have Different Smiley Images Appear?

Simplest way:

1. Find your smiley image files in the /wp-includes/images/smilies directory and back them up to another directory
2. Note the names of each smiley file. Your files must match these names and should be in the same ‘gif’ image format.
3. For predictable behavior, the image sizes should be similar.
4. Upload your new files to the /wp-includes/images/smilies directory with an FTP program.

If you’re up to hacking the code:

If you really must change the file names of the images, edit the file that refers to these images, ‘vars.php’ (in WordPress 2.2, they’re located in ‘functions.php’), situated in the /wp-includes/ directory. Follow all precautions when “hacking code”.

You can read a tutorial explaining all this in more detail, as well as how to avoid hacking WP code, at Ars Aranea.

There are also WordPress Plugins which allow you to customize your smilies in WordPress.
Why are my Smiley Images Blank?

If you recently uploaded the images, it could be that the images have been uploaded in ASCII format by your FTP program. Re-upload the smileys ensuring that they are transferred in BINARY format.

Some FTP programs have an auto-detect setting which will upload files in the correct format without user intervention. If you have such a setting, turn it on.
