Remove The Five Second Redial Delay In Remote Access
June 28th, 1999

Today's tip is courtesy of phydeaux.

If you get too impatient waiting for the Remote Access Control panel to redial a busy access number, this little edit sets the redial delay to practically zero!

In the System Preferences folder is a file called "Remote Access Connections".

Open a copy in ResEdit and find the cdia resources. Open them with a double-click.

Open ID 128.

In the third row, fourth column, is the location of the redial delay in HEX.

5 sec = 5000 milliseconds = 1388 hex.

If your delay was set to something higher, the number at this location will be different.

Change the number to 0010 hex.

Save your work and quit ResEdit. the next time you get a busy signal, the Remote Access control panel will frantically try to repeatedly redial it!
