Select iTunes Options with a Single Click.

Gwenhiver sent this handy tip for Apple's new media player, iTunes. This simple modification will make iTunes react to a single click on its controls even if the application is in the background (as Audion or SoundJam do).

Open a copy of iTunes in ResEdit and find the SIZE resources. Open them with a double-click. There is only one ID number, open it with a double-click too.

Scroll down to the "Get front clicks" setting and switch it from 0 to 1.

Save your work and quit ResEdit!

iTunes will new respond to single-clicks on its controls, even when it's in the background.

Updated:

On Wednesday, I posted an edit to make iTunes react to a single click on its controls even if the application is in the background. Phil from Waferbaby passes along this tip:

Regarding the latest resedit edit for iTunes, making it respond to single clicks - you said that Soundjam does this. Surprised by what I had just read, I tested it out. No deal, just like I thought.

I thought though, that I might as well investigate. So I popped it open in ResEdit, opened SIZE ID -1 and sure enough, halfway down there's an option for Get front clicks. Set it to 1, save, launch Soundjam, and I've got it responding to front clicks.

Thought you'd like to know.
